Launching a career in television at MTV Sports, Martello’s producing credentials consist of cutting edge, pop culture programming, including the Rock N Jock series, MTV Spring Break and The Rodman World Tour. At MTV, Martello produced How to Live Like A Rockstar, which in its success, was quickly turned into a franchise, spawning How to Live Like a Pop Star/Rap Star/Celebrity Pet and How to Live Like A Rockstar 2. The last of which he returned to produce.
Martello was courted by Spike TV, in its inaugural year, to start up a new department for day-parts and retention driven programming. Within his first two years, he grew the department into an in-house production agency, which included several on-air and online productions, a weekly video game series, and several long-form movie and video game promotions for high profile clients, including Sony Pictures, Legendary Pictures, and Microsoft Games Studio.
Long-form his forte, he transitioned to the Sports and Docs department to oversee the highest rated series in network history, The Ultimate Fighter, as well as all live sports, including UFC, Impact Wrestling, and Glory Kickboxing.
During his Sports term Martello served as Executive Producer on the 2hr documentary I Am Bruce Lee. I Am Bruce Lee was among the top rated shows on Spike TV to date, and well received among critics and the industry. Martello immediately pitched the network on taking the hit to series, titled I AM, which is still in production today.
Martello offers 20 years of experience, both producing and directing in television, film and digital media and serving as network executive overseeing show development, production, marketing and strategic planning of top rated programming.
Martello serves as a consultant and producer on independent projects, and is currently in development on a young adult series and a period horror film, in which he is also the screenwriter.
